Raul received his education at the National Conservatory in Mexico and furthered his studies at "The Juilliard School of Music of New York," renowned for its exceptional reputation.

In Chile, he received an invitation to participate as a performer in the posthumous tribute to Claudio Arrau. Additionally, he played at the metropolitan cathedral during the Maestro's funeral.

Raul played closely with Claudio Arrau, one of the most renowned pianists, and was one of his closest pupils. He learned his technique, his philosophy and gained a vast amount of musicianship through this experience.

He absorbed not only Arrau's technique and style but also his musical ideology. Throughout his career, Arrau was known for his meticulous preparation and his deep understanding of the music he performed. He was particularly admired for his interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin.

Who is Claudio Arrau?

Claudio Arrau (February 6, 1903 – June 9, 1991) was a renowned Chilean-American pianist. Renowned for his profound interpretations of a vast repertoire spanning the baroque to the 20th century, he was considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.

Born in Chile, Arrau began his musical journey at a young age, studying under his mother, a piano teacher. He later traveled to Berlin for further studies, where he was taught by Martin Krause, a student of Franz Liszt. Arrau's career took off in the 1920s, and he quickly gained international recognition for his technical virtuosity and expressive playing.

His students included many prominent pianists, such as Alicia de Larrocha and Daniel Barenboim.

One of his most notable students, Rodrigo Landa Romero, has achieved remarkable success, having won prestigious awards. He was selected in the World's 100 Most Outstanding Child Prodigies 2022, Global Child Prodigy Awards, Dubai.

He also won awards such as the Grand Prize Virtuoso Piano Paris, Grand Prize Virtuoso Piano London, and Grand Prize Virtuoso Piano Bonn.

Fun Fact: Landa de Romero has taken virtual piano lessons with Raul, since the pandemic. They took lessons virtually and didn't physically meet until several years later.
